Short Biography
Damla Kuru is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of City and Metropolitan Planning (CMP) at the University of Utah. Her research interests concern local-level climate adaptation, disaster planning, climate-induced population mobility, and environmental justice. Her research explores how urban systems are affected by climate impacts, with a focus on the drivers and outcomes of hazard-induced population movements. Her research utilizes both qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze physical, socio-economic, and ecological outcomes for impacted communities in various US regions and territories. Prior to joining CMP, she worked as a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She received her Ph.D. in public affairs at Florida International University.
